PROFILE: JOHAN DREYER

My passion for nature and hunting has always been a strong driving force in my life. I was born in 1971 in the Mpofu Game Reserve into a family of conservationists and hunters. And since my first hunt of a Kudu at the age of 7 there has been no stopping me!

Johan DreyerI have been hunting professionally now for 13 seasons and still enjoy the challenge of offering our clients something different in a very commercially competitive area. I feel strongly that every hunt and stalk should be a memorable experience. Part of these memorable experiences are encouraging and inspire clients to comprehend the beauty of nature and wildlife.

I am passionate about the hunting industry and hence wish to change its negative image into a more positive one. I would like to leave a legacy of honesty and good relationships between fellow outfitters, professional hunters, clients and all those who love hunting, once I retire from the hunting business.

I have hunted Southern Africa extensively and have guided nearly 200 hunters on Plains Game and Dangerous Game Safaris. I feel privileged to have seen so many places and to have met so many diverse people in a short lifetime. This industry has provided me with many valuable opportunities and memories.

I intend keeping Hunt Africa small enough so as to maintain our personal relationships with clients. I have also undertaken to only choose professional hunters and business partners who share the same sentiments with regard to hunting and conservation.

All the best in hunting!

Johan Dreyer

THE EASTERN CAPE

In our home base of the Eastern Cape, we have a unique position that offers a diverse terrain with some 35 species in the same area. We currently hold 27 concession areas in the Eastern Cape.

Our camps are geographically situated in such a way that we have great hunting, beautiful seaside villages, traditional rural areas, modern cities, adventure activities and a lot more within short traveling distances from the camps.

Port Elizabeth is a bustling modern city offering a touch of Africa with its white beaches and open air markets. It also has a modern and user friendly airport.

The best news for the international traveler to the Eastern Cape though is the fact that it is Malaria and Bilharzia free – Thus you need not have any shots!

Being in the Southern Hemisphere we hunt during Autumn, Winter and Spring i.e. March to October. We have a mild climate and very little rain in the hunting months.
